The brand was founded in 1924, with the full name "Quintero y Hermano" (translated as Quintero and Brothers), by tobacco expert Agustin Quintero and his four brothers in the southern Cuban port city of Cienfuegos, known as the "Pearl of the South". With superb technology and knowledge of tobacco, the Quintero brothers' brand achieved great success and later established a small factory to produce cigars, competing with many cigar brands in Havana. The tobacco for Kintro cigars is sourced from the Vuelta Abajo and Semi Vuelta regions, and all cigars are handmade long core cigars (Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larg).
