AVO was founded in 1988, named after Avo Uvezian, a renowned Armenian American jazz pianist and composer. Initially, he pursued a career in music, but later became a cigar enthusiast and a well-known cigar manufacturer today. In 1995, Davidoff acquired AVO and produced them in the same cigar factory in the Dominican Republic as Davidoff cigars.
