Fuente's AÑEJO "Aged" series originated from an "accident". In September 1998, Hurricane Georges swept across the Caribbean coast, causing huge losses to many tobacco fields and no harvest. Two years later, the Fuente family ran short of tobacco leaves for OpusX. In order to avoid stopping the factory, they decided to use another type of tobacco: Connecticut Broadleaf, and the AÑEJO series was born. AÑEJO uses the most precious and rare tobacco leaves from the Dominican Republic as the cigar core and binder, and the Maduro wrapper is aged for more than 5 years and aged in cognac barrels. This makes this series richer, spicier, and sweeter, making it a unique cigar. There are 8 regular edition cigars in this series. All use Maduro tobacco leaves as the cigar wrapper.
